Ruth's Baker's Clay Recipe

Ruth Asawa molded her fountain in San Francisco's Union Square out of humble baker's clay dough. About 200 school children helped to mold the detailed figures on the surface.  Then she cast the fountain in brass from the bas reliefs of  baker's clay. The developer of the plaza worried that the fountain would look like a big cookie. Ruth said that it would and that that would be fine with her.

A great Ruth Asawa activity would be to use the fountain as inspiration and make baker's clay figures.
